Battery Master Switch - Where to put it?
Is there any reason/preference where to put the above? Does the switch have to go into the dash or can it go on the outside of the scuttle like the
Caterhams? I can put mine on the dash on the passenger side and reach it easily, however it would be easier to go on the scuttle as it means that dash
removal is easier and less re-routing of wiring?
Can anyone let me know if it's ok to put in either position or if one is better than the other.

Pre or Post IVA
Forget about reaching it or having it on the dash for iva test, put it in engine bay.
Post iva, put it wherever you like

I see Ben. Deffo not in the engine bay  Probably will put it on the side of the scuttle unless advised otherwise.

Good enough for caterham, but it might need a little protection. Save it from being snapped off by someone or something

mine is in the centre console with a remote cable to the scuttle... best of both worlds

Good idea but don't want to run the cabling there or have a pull cable there.

Offside of scuttle seems to be the place most racers choose on their se7ens.

Hi
First off assuming it is being used under MSA conditions it is the type with the 4 spades and resistor. ?
These switches are a PITA reliability wise so needs to be accessible quickly when problems do occur. They also do not like being exposed to damp /
moisture. Also you SHOULD be able to operate it whilst fully strapped in to the car to shut it off but also have it in a position where marshals can
easily reach it should you not be in a fit condition to do so.
Personally i think where Caterham mount it is absolutely ridiculous. As it leaves it open to moisture ingress both whilst being used on track and
whilst in transport and also leaves it open to the elements during an accident which has been known to render it inoperable when damaged. Again
personally placing it out of harms way somewhere that's accessible from both inside and outside whilst also keeping it away from the weather
element is the best place which usually ends up being on / through the dash or on top of the tunnel area with a bracket under dash with a suitable
located exterior pull cable for marshal operation.

Matt, it is the FIA type. I will go for a dash mounted position then - I can reach it and it can be easily reached from outside.

Hi Nick.
Latest MSA wording would have a remote placed on the drivers side, where the A pillar would be.

MSA Blue Book is on line. Search MSA Blue Book 2011 online.
I'm getting to know this publication quite intimately these days.
Don't forget your yellow tape on the battery negatives/earths, and your (min 60mm internal diam) tow loops, painted red/yellow/or orange.
You've got an MSA scrutineer not far away from you, if you want clarification.

Agree dash is a good place for it. We put it on the right side of the steering wheel. Keeps the key in reach, out of harms way, keeps the scruits
happy and is in the exempt SVA (and IVA?) zone.
