Best Carb and Manifold
Hi I've decided to build a LOCOST for racing in the 750MC series I'm just gathering the parts I need with the intention of building a pro
comp chassis. I've managed to get hold of a complete Mk2 escort but its missing the card and manifold is there any specific carb that I should
be looking for or are all carbs that meet the regs provide much the same performance. Thanks javascript:icon(''

In the regs its states
Any single choke downdraught carburettor with maximum 26mm venturi, or any twin choke downdraught carburettor with one maximum 23mm choke and one
maximum 24mm choke venturi may be used
So would a a single choke 26mm or a twin choke 23/24 be best and what would the actual carb designation be ?
Thanks Graham

most go for the twin choke DGV, with all the cold starting/choke stripped away

Many thanks for all the reply's think I've established that 32/36 DGAV is the way to go, my next question is that I believe that there is
a difference in venturi size for carbs fitted to 1.3 GT's to those fitted to the 1.6's and pinto's and that these venturi are not
changeable is this correct ? I'm a LONG way off it but don't want to turn up for my first race day and fail scrutinering Thanks Graham

I think you will find that a 32/36 DGAV is not allowed these have 26/27 venturies these were fitted to 1600 crossflows and 1600 & 2000 pintos
You should get a 32 DGA or DGAV these have 23/24 venturies
Please check Mat at Procomp will confirm this
I may be wrong

The venturi sizes are stamped on the body of the chokes above the throttle linkage. Maurice

Ah yes that makes sense ! and I've just sourced a 32 DGAV with correct venturi so many thanks
Now .....Inlet manifolds I've seen 3 different types the 1300 fiesta with 2 individual input ports, a similar manifold but it has a single large
input port, and finally a manifold with a single input port but the port is at 90 degrees to the other 2 so the carb would fit the other way round
any thoughts on which one is preferable... I'm guessing to a degree the carb orientation is governed by the throttle cable linkage
Thanks Graham
