My name's Zil and I'm a hairdresser.
Haven't called in for a wee while but figured I better because I miss the abuse.
And on that note, feel free to abuse me for my latest purchase

I know there's a bit of a following here, mostly from those who've done the Locost thing but feel like having a screen, heater etc.
It was Locost though, that's the main thing.

We needed a 2nd car for occasional use, which meant spending enough to get something tidy but no more than that.
We have a Passat for when all 3 of us need to go out together.
That 2nd car just needs to be able to pick our 11 yr old up sometimes.
Not to have bought an MX5 / MGF would have been a missed opportunity.
Anyone else would probably have bought a Focus / Astra.
I know y'all will understand though.

When I saw the thread I thought you'd bought my car. I sold mine last week the day the MOT ran out and in selling it found all sorts of things
wrong with it so I couldn't afford to keep it. Sold it to a guy who wants to do it up though as he reckond the shell for good despite everything
else being not so, and I'm fairly certain that the Speedo had changed to Miles at some point as I'd apparantly done 1900Km, and I'm
sure I've covered more than that.
Enjoy it, they're so much fun.

It all fell through.
The seller is a deal breaking, welching, reneging, no good, low life, scumbag bas***d.
It made Zil money at the auction and he's decided to back out.
No doubt selling to someone else for more money.
I wouldn't mind that, but just admit it and let me get on with finding another one.
He hasn't the bottle to admit it and won't return my calls or emails.
I'm now out for an insurance policy for a car which I don't have.
Was meant to pick it up at 10.00 this morning and at 9.00 got a text saying "there's a problem with the car, please don't
come."
No further explanation, no more details regarding this 'problem'.
If it was just a minor thing like a flat battery, you'd tell the buyer.
Since 9.00, nothing. No phone call, no email, no text.
Went past his house and the car isn't there, but the bloke was there, tending to another car.
Maybe expecting the seller to honour an auction where a 1999 MX5 MK2 made the princely sum of £611 was a bit much to expect.

Fingers crossed this time! I have one too, is it confession time? I think they are great but probably be avoided by larger Coiffure, still got the
hard top on at the moment, luxury.
Phoned the local ramblers club today, but the bloke who answered just
went on and on.

Currently trying to resolve it.
No longer want to deal with the individual.
Have suggested that if he'll agree to refund me my fees on my abortive insurance policy, I'll agree to a cancellation of the
transaction.
If he doesn't agree with this, I'll go for a non performance against him and negative feedback.

I can see him arguing that you shouldn't have sorted the insurance until you picked it up, but I guess it only came into force the day you were
due to collect?

But had he done that, he couldn't have picked up the car. I thought they usually let you cancel for free if you did it right away.

By the time all of the messing about was done, the call centre was closed.
I called him Friday night to make sure we were on for Saturday.
We were.
On that basis, I arrange insurance to start on Saturday morning. The action of a reasonable person, I would hope you would agree.
He texted me on Satuday morning telling me there was a problem with the car.
Deal off at that point in my opinion.
He has now, late this afternoon contacted me again. It's now went from car problems to "he was ill".
A disconcerting lack of honesty here. If you're going to be a liar, you better have a good memory.
So, I'm definitely out. My hard earned is going elsewhere.
