R1 wiring loom connection advice please.
I stripped out all of the un-necessary wiring from the bike loom yesterday.....it took me 6 hours
I just need a few confirmations
1) Join side stand wires
2) Join hand clutch wires.
3) Join "Stop" wires (I want to switch off from fia switch spare terminals to ign on loom) or should I join the ignition wires and use the
stop on the fia switch?
I also have removed the exup because I am using a veypor dash Should I just cut the cables at the ECU?
Also there are 3 wires at the ECU that were linked into the headlight system. I am guessing that these have something to do with current loading at
idle and make the engine fast idle when stationary with your lights on?
I am keeping the neutral start switch because I want to link it into the reverse starter (via relay) to prevent the reverse being engaged without the
engine in neutral.

Have you got a power commander? ( I will be fitting one) As I understand it, the exup helps with emmissions when cold. Perhaps your fuel map is wrong
because it is missing?

I believe the ECU needs to 'sense' the EXUP valve - I think the trick is to fit the motor somewhere hidden and wire it in - it'll
just whir away doing nothing!
I'd use the FIA switch to control the ECU via the existing wiring for the kill switch - just a little bit simpler!
Not sure about just linking across where the side stand and clutch switches should be - I've heard of others fitting resistors - if you have the
original switches I guess you could measure the resistances of them open and closed.

not sure if this is relevant or not but i have a 2000 R1 in my MK and i have a Koso Gauge and the Exup Removed and i have no problems at all... no
error codes or rough idle or revs....

Wyn, both the clutch switch and side stand switch are just switches, so why use resistors?

Martn I used this...

It would have taten a lot longer (if ever) to sort mine without it.
I used BobC's little widgit to get rid of the Exup fault code. It probably helps even without the bike dash. Do a search for it.

If they are just simple switches, just replicate what they do when you want the engine to run, i.e. if they are open circuit with the engine running,
just leave them unconnected or if they are closed when the engine is running connect them together.
I could be talking bo**ocks as I don't have a bike loom!

IIRC different year from yours, but should be quite similar:

Thanks Joao, I have carried out all of the mods except I am yet to decide on the ign switch. I might use a relay which works off my immobiliser.
