digital audio recorders
i'm well into DJing, and usually, if i record a mix i use my trusty old minidisc recorder. thing is, to then put it on a CD, i've got to
plug the MD player into my PC, hit play on the MD, record on the PC, and wait an hour for it to all copy over. making a simple CD takes hours
i bought a sony MD player years ago as it had usb on it, but its only for copying onto MD, not for reading back off one
a lot of people on here know a lot of things on a lot of different subjects
does anyone know if any digital audio recorders which i can then open the file by USB?
would make things a lot quicker...
got to be good audio quality though! better than CD, and over an hour recording time.
anyone heard of anything like this before?

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Can you not just record the mix directly to the PC?

the PC's not as reliable as i'd like. i've got usb ports on the mixer to record to pc, sometimes what happens though, is the PC will
just hang. thats the last thing i want after putting all the time and effort into a demo mix.
sometimes when recording from MD, it can skip and jump a bit. I think the way forward is a recorder which is dedicated to audio, then copy over by
usb.

Something like this?
ebay

Or if you've got an iPod there are ways (3rd party firmware) of enabling recording.

I river H300 series - old but will do exactly what you want - 20 or 40Gb hard drive...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iriver_H300_series
Use Rockbox on it to get the best functionality...
I've got a H340 which I've really abused it's still going strong + battery life still good.

sure can! maybe not to everyones taste, but got some drum and bass recorded the other night
https://download.yousendit.com/dVlvUGhYQVNveE9Ga1E9PQ
playlist:
Shy FX - shake your body
utah saints - something good (high contrast mix)
Ebony Dubsters - Rah
High Contrast - Racing Green
just a quick mix i did, all done with lovely vinyl. thats how i roll only about 20mins long, but while i'm out of work, i'm going to
push myself as a DJ try and get loads of lovely gigs. as a demo CD, propmoters very rarely listen to the whole thing, so i'm thinking a few
different styles on 1 CD, 20mins long, listed by genre rather than a full track list, that way they can just listen to the ones they're
interested in
my mate and me also do a bit of producing, look up Akkiles vs Blake V8 and you should find a tune called 'for all time' by Rachel Loren,
we were asked to do a remix for its release. actually, if you go to my mates myspace www.myspace.com/nicktmusic 'for all time' and
'last sunday' are the two we've done so far. plenty of others on the go at the minute too. a few cheesy chart-aimed 80s remixes in
the pipeline too.
we do oads of stupid ones for fun as well...

seabass, i just had a look at the wiki thing on the iriver, looks good! any idea what prices they are at the moment?
