Possible future DVLA issue

Will this be an issue once it comes to registration...

My engine and gearbox were bought off a guy who used to race and all ive got is a scrap of paper with hand written receipt. im guessing they check the engine number with the police records anyway.

Strangely I’ve never had any problems with handwritten receipts and had them for both engines and body shells. Even buying cars, it’s normal for a written and signed receipt to be proof of payment and purchase. Something everyone should do when buying cars if they have any sense.

Just make sure they don’t sign Daffy Duck

Another one. I still have the donor car V5. Im pretty sure the original owner (a friend of my folks) had informed the DVLA of the cars scrappage but seeing as i have the whole V5 im not sure now... I will email and ask him if he did.

Now with the V5 still in his name etc, could this pose other problems?

HAHA looking like it could be a minefield....

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Blake, download openoffice or open ms Word, both are great receipt makers.

Yep,
DVLA now either need a receipt confirming purchase or a letter from a garage proving the engine is the capacity stated.

You could always contact the seller and tell them you are writing a receipt and ask them if that is OK with them.

I regularly sign "M. Mouse" for tea/coffee when working in hotels... I had a junior technician with me once and he said "so where does the bill go?" to which I replied "disney land! Where did you think it goes?!"
