Making an Exhaust....

Hi,
Im looking for a cheap supplier of 2" steel tube (mild or stainless) to make up an exhaust and manifold once the prototype is finished and tested.

Ive looked onEbay, and the pre-bent pipe and tube is quite expensive, and miles away. Im looking for somewhere local, and the nearest ive found so far is Luton for the stainless bits.

I need the mild steel bits for now, to make up the prototype, so any offcuts or scrap would do as long as its 2".

Ive thought about going to ATS to see if i can scrounge an old 2" system from their skip, but there arent many cars on the road that use 2" exhausts as standard??

Kindest Regards,
Richard.

Why not try someone like Andrew Pages, or even Larkspeed. Thought about using that flexible stuff? Straight pipe for a 2 metrs lenth comes in at around £15, bends are between £3-£7 each.

Ill have a look, Thanks.

I didnt want to use the flwxible stuff, as i wanted it to be presentable as well. When im finished, im hoping to have the engine bay in show condition. Also, the objective of making a custom manifold is to ensure they are the same length and free flowing. Flexi pipe isnt smooth inside i think.

Larkspeed and Andrew Page arent what im looking for.

Im looking for someone that will supply just plain tube, so that i can cut and weld into the correct length and size.

Ive got some local firms i use regularly, so ill try them on Monday, but they specialise in sheet metal engineering rather than tube.

Richard.

There are plenty cars that use 2"ish exhaust tubing, many turbo diesels run that kind of size if you can get some scrap sections from ATS, Thick Fit etc to do you mock up before you spend the real money on stainless.

Probably just a couple og metres, and a few bends. An old header would do with a centre section.
A guy at work is letting me have his old scooby centre section, just need a few more bits to play with and cut.

For stainless tube/bends the cheapest route is to buy from a supplier that does hygienic stuff for dairies. Buying from automotive places is much more expensive.

NS Dev recommends this place http://www.allstainlessltd.co.uk/
