way off topic - which structural analysis software ?
just a shot in the dark...
I'm going to have to update the software at work, so does anyone on here have a structural analysis program they could recommend ?
(I know there are a few engineers out there)
it needs to quick and strait forward to use but still capable of giving design results for BS and euro codes
we've got QSE at the moment (Stadd pro's little brother) and its ok but getting too old now and they arn't doing any new versions
I've got 5 year old copy of stadd pro, but its far too much effort to do the same design and doesn't give the answers in as nice a
format....

I've never happened upon STAAD before, but it looks pretty minty in it's results options.
Does it have its own CAD package?
Solidworks simulation has to be one of the easiest, and Ansys is the best.
You're proably best of just getting the future version of whatever you're used to.
Not the best help i know, but hopefully of some help.
STADD appears to be more of a civil software, and are you after the results relating to the standards, rather than finite data? In which case SW probs
isn't too helpful and i doubt Ansys is either.

no, it claims to export to most things but in practice its never that easy...

the problem is - there is no future version of QSE
and your right, FEA isn't what we need (although it would be a nice extra) - FEA would give very optimistic results on most of our work, so we
have to stick to the codes
