emissions fail!
Has anyone got any ideas on how to get my emissions sorted?
I took my car to the mot center to have a check done on emissions the tester diden't know what to test it under as my car has a gsxr1000 bike
engine fitted.
He tested it on a 2008 westfield as my bike engine is 2008 bike engine and it failed.
Ive tryed restricting fuel to the injectors, covering the end of the exhaust, and ive put 2 cats in the exhaust none of thats changed any of the
readings. (The tester has a 2008 gsxr totaly standard we tryed his bike and that diden't even pass) Im starting to think the dvla don't
want these bec cars on the road hence the strict car emissions test.

The co is ok when on tick over but when i hold revs at 3000rpm the co goes sky high.
To be honest i havent got a clue what he is testing i know nothing at all about emissions!
Im just worried if i take it to get iva tested i might never get it through this emission test £500 is a lot to loose also a total rip off.

What cats have you got fitted (bike cats aren't big enough)? Do you have a power commander.

Ive used the cat out of the gsxr and i bought a 2004 r1 end can with the cat inside of it so exhaust emissions are running though the both of them
cats.

If you don't know what it wants setting to how about ringing the IVA test centre
Not having a bike engine i don't know a lot about them but i think it will be checked higher then 3000rpm on the iva test
and you have to get the cat very very HOT to make them work

Check e-bay for a power commander. They come up regularly. You realy need a car size cat to pass the emmision test. The bike ones are just too small.
The bike emmision requirements are far less strict.

Power commander and ONLY for the test run as lean as you can, try and get it as hot as you can, the hotter the better to enable the cats to work.
In this case air leaks are not always a bad thing.
Regardless of the original application of the engine, as soon as you fit it into your car it becones a car engine and is therefore tested to the
emissions set for the engine year. Shame the insurance company's don't think the same.

Power Commanders are not Cheap. £280 new.
LINKY
As above the cat needs to get hot.
If you can find a helpful MOT test center they may test the Emissions
And if you take a laptop you should be able to make some adjustments.
Best of all would be a Rolling road set up for BECS should sort it.
You could even get them to make 2 Maps.
