Pinto cam ID
Hi all,
I've just picked up a 2.0 pinto head and whilst cleaning it I noticed the numbers 32A8 on the back of the cam is this a standard camshaft?
I only ask as I don't want to disregard it after I strip the head. (It has good lobes so it will be kept anyway).
Also is there any difference between the RS2000 head and the standard Pinto heads?
Cheers,
Po.

No difference between heads unless you compare standard and injection, the injection head is worth 10bhp over standard.
Measure the base circle to lobe tip distance for an idea of lift, can't remember the ratio but I think about 1.4 rocker ratio
May be a Newman or catcam
Piper do an A8 cam revs to 7,800 so you will need good rods with Cosworth or ARP bolts

I didn't think there was a diffence between the heads but thought I read somewhere that the RS2000 engines had a slightly higher BHP or this may
have been between the difference standard head and the injection head.
I'll have to see if I can remember how to measure the cam lobes properly.
Cheers,
Po.
