V8 monster - first drive
OK, so only a little drive around the garden, but did manage to get in a few power slides!
First movement under own steam
First opposite lock!
In case you're wondering, yes, that is opposite lock you see in the 2nd picture. Just couldn't help myself.
What an amazing feeling it is to have finally reached this milestone of the thing moving under it's own steam. The random pile of steel and
aluminium that has been my expensive obsession for the last five years has just become an actual car! And what a noise it makes - half TVR, half
Harley.
Mechanically complete at last

Yeah, I live in a flat in London that can only be described as "bijou" - I'm incredibly lucky that my parents have a bit more space
that I can use, even if it is a 3 hour drive away.
Happy to put up with the inevitable bollockings for covering various family heirlooms in grinding splatter etc in order to have space for the project
and my growing collection of associated junk.

Well done that man!
Just hope I'm not too far from that point myself, and we live on a farm (with no farming! ) so should have a bit of room for 'trying it
out'
Now just need to get crackinig on that engine cooling and ignition
It looks like the Midget is winning at the moment......

A truly great moment when it moves by itself!
Is it a scratch built chasis or a Viento?
Now get it finished!

The chassis is scratch built, based on McSorley +4 plans but an inch higher with some of the "cymtriks mods" that were much talked about a
few years back. Much smaller than a Viento.
To finish I just have to:
- Sort an engine tuning issue (it's hunting at idle when cold - I think the AFM is screwed)
- Finish bodywork
- Add the lights
- Make much quieter (despite those long silencers it's far too loud)
- IVA - hopefully early summer
Really enjoying this "putting it all together" phase of the build after literally years spent endlessly fabricating and then refabricating
stuff.

I *do* have a couple of vids but the sound is disappointingly rubbish. The engine noise has been totally cut out by my girlfriend's camera
which I guess has a very compromised microphone. Will see if I can get the vids up on to Youtube anyway.

less excuses more video!
as you should know by now, if there's no video, it never happened. anyone can set up their car in a garden, turn the wheel the wrong way, and say
it was opposite lock, when they never actually moved
