Help - I really cant decide what colour to paint !
Hi all,
My Spire GTR is almost there now, and ive been trying to decide on what colour scheme to go with.. Ive been going back and forth - do i go with
something very graphical ?, motorsport related ?, or somthing plainer ?, and Paint or Vinyl wrap ?
To give everyone an idea, it currently looks like this :-
My current thoughts is to get it painted plain white, and then get a Orange fade vinyl strips, similar to the new Caterham below.
Has anyone got any other ideas ? (open to lots of suggestions).
If i go down the Vinyl Decal route, does anyone know of a suitable source ?
Cheers
Tris

Oh i do like that Radical (mines powered by a ZX12, so the green is in keeping).
But that also looks expensive to do in paint

If you get it covered in vinyl then at a later date you can rip it all off and recover in a different colour or design

You can do it quickly. You can do it cheap. You can do it right. – Pick any two.

I like the idea of the vinyl route but ive yet to find anyone who does it without charging the earth. Does anyone have any recommendations ?

Read this, it is really quite easy, FAR easier than painting and about 10%
of the cost. I like the look of the carbon or the gold foil!
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Oh, after looking through lots of radical pic's, i do like the orange one below. (think ive got a white and orange thing going on )
Having never done any image manlipulation before, could anyone tell me if its easy to take a photo as it is currently and to superimpose such a design
ontop ?. If so, what software would i need (that doesn't cost mega bucks like photoshop).
Cheers

Take some high res images, host them somewhere, and ask people on here to "Photoshop" them for you. I am useless with PC's and there
are plenty of helpful people on here that wouldn't mind doing it as a one off!
I need to do it at some point with my Golf!
With regard to your Q above about doing the graphics and it costing a fortune, get yourself on ebay, there's loads of 7 year vinyl for sale as
job lots, just follow vid advice on youtube and DIY. If you fudge it up, remove and try again. Simple as...
If you can't find vids on youtube, then follow advice for window tints...

If someone wouldn't mind spending some time photoshoping some photo's as you suggest, i would be very, very grateful.
There's some high rez photo's here - http://web.me.com/tkipling/GT-R/The_Build/Entries/2011/1/29_It_moves_!!.html
Ideally i suppose (and after spending a few hours trawling the web this evening), i would like something along the lines of the
white/grey/orange/black radical in the photo above, but altered to fit the different shape of the spire.

in my opinion vinyl is the way to do any stripes easy to fit. got the vinyl off fleabay got car painted for £300 and a mate made up the decals as a
favour.

I must admit I like the idea of the orange stripes. A bit different

Hello Steve,
Yes, i think i will be going down the vinyl route too - £300 for the base paint sounds like a bargain though, ive just had a quote of £1200 to paint
it all white !.
