are the silvertop and black top sumps interchangeable ?

You can put a silver top sump on a black top with four 20mm spacers and four main cap bolts from a silver top but not vice versa as the black top has
higher main bearing caps to allow for the cast alloy windage tray.

why would you want too is it for ease of shortening ? if you have a silvertop there ar a couple of options,
option 1 cut down and have sump ally welded cost £90 - £100
Option 2 Fit escort sump, slightly shallower than mondeo
Option 3 fit 1.8 cvh sump (cut down )
Life is like a bowl of fruit, funny how all the weird looking ones are left alone
