Tax Disc- Taxation Class " Not Licensed"
I'm feeling a bit thick about this.
My Formula Clubman is has a Taxation Class of "Not Licensed" and I have a taxation disc with Not Licensed written on it.
Does this mean that it is registered as off the road/SORN?
Or is this related to historic or special vehicle registration?
The DVLA site doesn't spell it out.
Many Thanks

It means the tax that was paid for has run out and it has not been declared SORN.
How the hell do you have a tax disc with that written on it?

Looks like a similar system fail.
You'll probably have to reclass it to historic/PLG - the fact that your post office issues "not licensed" tax discs may or may not
make you legal from an ANPR point of view (if I were you, I'd call the AA or someone, and get them to check whether your vehicle shows up as
"taxed" on their systems).
I don't think you can be done for not displaying a tax disc or displaying an expired tax disc as presumably yours is in date.

Just visited my friendly DVLA. Had to present all documents (V5, MOT, Insurance and a V10) and get car reclassified as PLG. Was hoping to get
Historic vehicle, but registered as March 1973 so 3 months out.
So yes "Not Licensed" means SORN (or equivalent). Still don't understand the tax disc with 'Not Licenced' written on
it.
Leaves me feeling somewhat stupid.
Thanks for your replies chaps.

It's not when it was first registered, it's when it was built that matters for tax exemption.
Being only 3 months out, means you've got a pretty good chance the car was built before 1973 - worth having a dig round for some evidence.
