Turbo'ing a blade 919 ?? how easy / challenging ??
as the title really.. im thinking seriously about turboing if possible my 919blade indy..
just wondering how hard or easy it would be ??
what exactly would be the shopping list ??
could this be done using the standard 919 carbs and a plenum ??
where would I pick an oil feed from on the bike engine ??
TIA Alan

Have a look here
The lockup clutch is a defo here I paid for the intial drawings so
paid £400 for mine, you will need a clutch spacer from Andy7wide, I junked carbs and used 954 TB's on a homebrew inlet as the spacing does not
match.
Oil comes form the big bung that the oil pressure sender fits in.
You also want to budget for an accusump and 3.14 LSD
Is it worth it? YES

This is my winter project.
Simple and locost as possible, on carbs.
Start with the "right" turbo and work round it.
I'm looking into the "right turbo now"
theres a few threads on here on this topic

You do not need any more than 8psi max, I run 7psi which saves having to purchase a head gasket and spacer so saving ~£200.
These are found on 2.0-2.3 volvo's, it what I was going to use until Scootz came to the rescue

I take it the stanard trumpets would be disregarded and a bolt on plenum would be required ??

I think Joe (welderman) is/has turbo-ing/ed a blade engine.
Maybe worth dropping him a U2U.
It's Evolution Baby!

A blow through turbo setup with carbs (particularly multiple carbs) is not particularly simple. Carbs are naturally velocity sensitive devices, you
need to make them pressure sensitive as well unless you are keen on melted pistons.
This was discussed a while back.

Looked at doing one about a year ago and spent a LOT of time researching. Told i would need to rebuild the bottom end every 2k. Was going to blow
through TB's , therefore i would aftermarket ecu. Added up the price of TB/ECU/Pistons/ Forged valves/ oil cooler/ intercooler/ custom plenium /
water injection / turbo /manifold / RR setup and i was very quickly into ZZR / Busa money. Ok for a sunday drag bike, but felt i would never have
my hand out of your pocket. Must admit, 180bhp out of light weight blade DID appealed to me, but the new CBR rr / Zx10-r / R1 and GSXR 1000 are
+180bhp with ram air. The T blade would give more torque. In short , i did not have 'balls' todo it, so i went for zzr14. Cannot beat
CC's

Mine runs 7 PSI, completely standard engine and has yet to blow up @200bhp ! when its £400 an engine when it does go bang I will just swap out.
It made no nasty noises on the RR, pulling a plug and all looks nice and clean, no ali stuck on the plugs etc.
I,m sure all those expensive bits will help but the gearbox and clutch will be struggling if you wound up the boost, as it is now I have busa power
without the cost or weight.... and I can afford for it to go wrong as no dry sump etc to worry about if the engine blows.
2000 miles is a lot of track time, I just change the oil each outing to play safe.
I should add, I spent considerably less than holeshot are quoting to do mine

It will hit the rev limiter in top about halfway up the pit lane at Brands, with the little slicks and 3.14 diff that's about 135mph
The bit that needs tuning is the driver.....

I thought I'd add a "Well done" too.
However, I'm afraid mine is just a genuine well done, I mean it without any petty sarcasm...
