New Car for my son (Sounds like a fair swap!)
My Boy (21 year old) wrote off his car ,a Ford Ka ,which he hated .
He now wants to buy a replacement but is fussy about what he gets.
He is 6'4" tall and all arms and legs so he wants something that is relatively comfortable for
some one that tall .Probably with an adjustable steering wheel so he can get his knees under it.
It has to be a small engine as he has no , no claims and an accident against him.
Some were between £3-£5000
Any Ideas ? or recommendations ?

This will be the cost of the insurance?
"That thing you're thinking - it wont be that."

best to buy something that is not usually picked by the rest of the teenage drivers as those automatically will have higher insurance

We're selling the wife's Hyundai i10 for 5k, 2 years old (3 years still left on warranty) 4k on the clock, silver, mint condition except a
small scratch on the lower front (kids bike pedal) £30 tax per year, should be cheap insurance. Probably doesnt have a cool factor but a very
functional cheap car to run and maintain.
Let me know if interested.

do a search on parkers.co.uk for low insurance group cars. mk1 focus 1.4 springs to mind though, reliable, smart and big enough for a big lad.
insurance group 9.

MGB GT
Less desirable and therefore cheaper than the soft top.
LOADS of leg room, very comfortable, two seater sports car but no real performance so should reduce chances of further accidents.
Cheap but working, taxed and MOTED examples anything from £1,500 up. If you've any sense (I didn't) go for a rubber bumper version which
certainly don't look as nice but there are some really well kept examples that aren't flaking into tiny bits of rust and they're
super cheap because no one likes the looks.
Simple cars easy for a 21 year old to learn car maintenance on and parts are all available and cheap with lots of specialist garages across the
country.
Insurance is very cheap but only a few places will do classic policies for young'uns.
I got my mgb at 21 and it only cost £400 per year with no no-claims.
Also very different to anything his friends will be driving and personally that was a big plus for me.
[disclaimer, rubbish fuel economy compared to modern cars, most other things rubbish compared to modern cars although handling wise very entertaining.
Also, my avatar details needs updating because my old girl rotted beyond economic repair after a few years and it can take some searching to find one
that isn't about to decompose into a pile of rust on your driveway. BUT what a great few years!]

Might be worth looking at a mini MPV type car as you can get them with little engines and they're usually quite large inside due to the hight.
Might be worth looking at something Modeo/vectra sized, my mate swapped his for a Lower insurance group Clio which put his insurance up.
