Trailers
Hi Racing community
I'm modifying my trailer a bit at present and need to check the height of the tow ball.
Is there a standard height it should be for a road car to tow with and if so, what is it please?
Thanks
Gavin

Best thing would be to put it behind your tow vehicle and see what height it needs to be.
I'd imagine best position is when it sits fairly horizontal with a towing weight on.

I've got a feeling its 19" to the top of the ball,
but I've just measured my Passat and its 18 1/4".
Perhaps my bum has sagged.

Hi Paul
I know the feeling....
I have a c class merc estate with sport suspension so it sits low anyway. The car is around 12 yrs old and the tow ball is just under 15".
I never measured it before so i don't know whether it is sagging or whether it was always like that - still seems a bit low to me..
Thanks

Just had a chat with a local trailer shop.
They say between 15 - 17" to ball centre.
The plot thickens.
