Outrageous Bargain - Autotune Gemini

I'm tempted to ask if this is a scam as this is absurdly priced.
Friday Ads Ad on Friday

If I didn't have a wedding to pay for I'd be becoming a two-Gemini household. I paid the same for an untouched bare chassis.

Buy it before I drink any more wine and change my mind.

For such a well educated man, you're missing the big picture.

Wouldn't it make a wonderful wedding present

This might be fishy, I've already tried to contact the guy and offered the asking price but he has not got back to me. Maybe it's already sold, but if not I feel another addition to the fleet is likely!

You have just bought a worthless lemon Mate, you should cut your losses and sell it to me right away!

But seriously, looks like a good car for the money and welcome to the site. Just ask away and we'll try to help!

Cheers Si.

was sold as needing sva so no deception there. He probably just put the donor plate on it. Or maybe not, since that was an escort Maybe he was relying on there being no traffic police nowadays and used that plate to blag anpr cameras whilst he tested it!

Thanks for the welcome, the car was apparently ready for sva some time ago but when the previous guy obtained it his circumstances changed and the car was never presented to the DVLA , this is as I have been told. The donor vehicle was to have been a 1300 escort and that is the engine that is in the vehicle at the moment.
Unfortunately now there is some renovation work to be done as the gemini has been sadly sitting under a plastic tarpaulin on a drive for a couple of years, the good news is that it is all redeemable but will require some stripping of parts and a good respray.
My intention is to put a twin cam Lotus engine into it complete with the gearbox and maybe the knock on steel wheels as I have a rotten elan plus 2 that was also siting around for years (write off but the dvla were not informed).
I have the v5c for the elan (1969) and it has been in my name for some 14 years.
All my previous renovations have been motorcycles but the elan was going to be put to use someday and this seemed like the right opportunity.
Now all I have to do is clear some workshop space and develop some muscles as the parts are heavier than what I am used to.
I know that I will have to lean on you guys for various bits of information and knowhow but am looking forward to the challenge.

price

I paid 900.00 for the car and the costs of getting it back home.
I have managed to start the car after fitting a new fuel pump and ignition coil, the engine sounds ok, the car is now laid up and will be worked on this summer as I am in the process of finishing an N15 Norton during the winter months.

prices for Geminis seem to be very low.

mine has cost (professionally built from a pedantic builder, one of the best kitcars i ever owned), galvanized chassis (!!!!!), fully trimmed, donor car was also escort, but 1600, all technical parts had been stripped and overhauled. the car was featured on autotunes exhibition stand in the 90ies.
age reated plate from 1978, correctly registered, total mileage when i bought it 1.5 years ago: 700mls (yes 700miles!!!!), the car was like new. underneath it looked like having been assembled a week before the sales...no dust, no mud, no the slightest corrosion. professional paintwork with perfect door and boot caps. absolutley spot-on wiring with a professionally made harness (no blue, red ,yellow crimp connectors)

cost 2600,-GBP incl. a fresh mot, it also passed the local (german) mot straight away.
