You need Nomex now.

The days of single layer Proban are gone forever. Now outlawed.

For sale, single layer Proban race suit. Worn 3 times and immaculate condition.

£ two bob ?

Let me know if you find anywhere apart from AWS which does good fireproof stuff as I'm also starting to look for safety gear

If anyone knows where to get HANS devices at a decent price then please do let me know!

If buying new, defo look at playskool. Also worth checking out Lico. They are rebadged sparco products but much cheaper.
Many will tell you they arent the same, but they carry sparco fia labels ;-) no getting round that !
Its a sneaky way for sparco to have two 'exclusive' distributors per country

Be careful buying safety gear, and make sure the labels are genuine. MSA bulletin recently mentioned that there are a number of fake labelled items floating about. I wonder if they are cheaper in China, where they probably originated?

Cheers,
Nev.

Start from £300 for an FIA one. Other then that go on ebay or Demon Tweeks end of line sale.

Went for the 3 layer from Playskool motorsport. Their gloves and boots fit very well!

This seems the most appropriate place to post this, rather than in the for sale section as it it specific to the OP.

If anyone is looking for a race suit, I have a 'Carrera' suit I bought from GP racewear in 2003. I wore it once, washed it, and it's been in the cupboard ever since. Strangely, in that 10 years it appears to have shrunk around the middle, but not the length.....

It's a Nomex III, Size 'M1', and has the following stitched into the collar: FIA 1986 standard, 01.231_RAC_98

I think it would still be suitable for Sprints and Hills, if not circuits?

I'd describe it as a medium. Laid flat, the Dimensions are as follows:

Across chest, under arms - 20"
sleeve length, armpit to cuff - 22"
Waist - 15 - 17" (elasticated)
inside leg, from Crotch to bottom of ankle cuff -29.5"

It's red, with white cuffs and at the joint between the sleeves and body.

If anyone is interested, I can email photos.

Many thanks,

Al
