universal silencer - what are you all using?
gents,
i'm rebuilding my locost [gts - spits on floor - clubman] which is running a tuned duratec on jenveys. i have junked the old cast exhaust
manifold and system which terminated in a 300mm ling x 140mm dia [2"in/out] silencer. this sounded like a mildly irked wasp, very buzzy.
now fitted is a mild 4-1 over the rail manifold from kistpares. this will be a 2" system and stainless from the manifold back. only i'm
having difficulty choosing a silencer and so am interested in what you all run.
car is track only and there are no noise restrictions out here. i'd like a good exhaust note and looking to spend under 100quid.
ideas? so far i'm looking at jetex or a custom chrome repackable which is 4.5" dia and 14" long.

Gutted early R1 can with perf tube and wadding stuffed inside with ends riveted.
Cheap but may not be quiet enough for you.

Have you considered a Formula Ford 2000 silencer. These are available in stainless and comply with MSA noise testing. I run a FF1600 silencer on my 2
ltr black top and it always passes scrutineering .....

The silencer can measures 12 3/4 " long x 5 " o/d, the tail pipe is 6 1/4" long and the inlet pipe is designed to take a 2"
pipe from the manifold. All FF silencers have a number embossed in the outer skin which should be 9095317 for the later type. They do either zink
plated or stainless. Silencers are available from Sky Ford at Hemel Hempstead, Merlin or Shaw Motorsport, etc.....Hope this is useful. David.
