Creating vacuum from pressure
Any cunning folk ever seen a device that enables you to convert compressed air (from a compressor) into vacuum?
I need to do some manual pick and place so need a very small amount of vacuum to pick components up... Only issue is I don't have a pump and
don't want to pay big bucks for one...
I know it will be inefficient converting pressure to vacuum but it must be possible!?

Isn't that how a spray gun/sand blaster picks up the paint/sand? If your need is 'small' enough you may be able to adapt one of
those? (Or pinch the hoover)

Many years ago you could buy a car vacuum cleaner that ran from the exhaust tailpipe, working on the venturi principle.

I looked into it and gathered some simple plans with rough dimensions for building a suitable venturi for use with an air comressor
My idea was to build something to assist with brake bleeding/oil extraction ...that kind of thing
Buggered if I can find the info now..
Will keep looking as I know I have them here somewhere

You could also buy one that ran of compressed air, no moving parts but it made a hell of an noise.

Used vac gens on numerous projects with robots, hope what you are lifting isn't too porous and you will need to get massive on the generator.
If you are lifting different sized items look for a 'Schmalz gripper' it uses a large pad with little valves that cut of small ports that
aren't covered by the item you are picking up so you don't loose any vacuum.
Rotary build coming soon...

When you say a small amount of vacuum, do you mean low negative pressure or low volume?
How about an old turbo? ... Low pressure but big volume

Just borrow the home vacuum cleaner or get one of those cheap 12V car vacuum cleaners ...... and work from there.
