Paint stripper, give it to a blaster and if they use high pressure or corse media the bonnet becomes scrap.

Nitromors used to be fine on aluminium.
I'd use that ancient tin from the back of the shed though, the newer stuff is rubbish.

If the paint isn't some baked on finish then Nitromors should be OK
120 grit flap disc in a small grinder will also do it. There's also Polycarbide discs designed for removing rust/paint. Not tried those yet
myself.
Media blasting would be the easiest, soda or fine crushed glass shouldn't ruin the ally.

Indeed, modern Nitromors is even safe to use on painted surfaces

i recently used some of the ploy carbide discs in a 4.5'' angle grinder when stripping three or four layers of paint of my land rover
wings with very good results. I have used nitromors in the past but found it very messy and time consuming.

Heat gun and a 'soft' plastic scraper of some type?
Always biting off more than I can chew.....

I used some of this a couple of weeks ago - to strip paint from an old pub sign - 3mm alu and no idea what kind of paint but it had fared well in the
great outdoors for years. Only £6 for the 1ltr bottle and I still have about 200-300ml left after putting a couple of coats on

I did leave it to 'soak' for a long time - but it worked very well.
