Reading old amiga disks
Hi all,
After cleaning out the loft, I found my old A1200, which suprisignly still works! My question is, I have a load of amiga games files on my MAC that I
use with an emulator but would like to put them onto DD floppy disks and use them on the amiga.
Does anyone know of a way I can read/write to DD floppy disks from my MAC or PC? I can format them on the Amiga and I don't mind buying a USB
disk drive but don't want to spend £££ on hardware to get it to work!

It's been a while since I played with Amiga stuff, but from memory the A1200 and A600 had PATA IDE interfaces in the 'trap door'
underneath.
You can get a compact flash to IDE adapter for a few pounds, and small (by modern standards) CF cards are similarly single figures of pounds.
I assume there would then be a way of putting the game file onto the CF and running them from there. Probably worth investigating before messing with
floppy disks.

Not quite using DD floppy disks, but this is what I was planning on buying for my old Amiga;

A 4Gb compact flash and appropriate hardware to present it as a hard drive. It would certainly be a lot quicker than the floppies!

Very few people have played less with Amigas than me in my teens. I was and still am a geek. I had a old A500, then a A600 and finally a A1200 with
a 85megabyte HD. I couldn't fill the HD even if I tried back in those days. A 4GB hard drive is ENORMOUS!
My issue is that whereas playing old games is fun but after a few minutes you will get bored and it will sit collecting dust again. The only game I
have EVER gone back to and completed again on the Amiga was UFO Enemy Unknown (which is in my opinion the greatest game ever made).
My advice is to stick with your emulators.

I failed my second year at Uni due to Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge and Lemmings 
Have you got/played XCOM:Enemy Unknown?

Another Amiga owner (former, in my case)! Remember playing Cannon Fodder and Speedball whilst studying & working. I confess I've now had
to download Tiny Troopers on my Android tab for my CF fix. But Speedball was brilliant!

Iirc you have to format the disk to 720k format so that a pc and the amiga can read them.

Ahhhh memories... all I ever played was microprose f1gp on my a1200. Its still in the loft at my parents. My brother picked up a few Archimedes from
an old school who were throwing yhem out. There was a game called chocs away we used to play in our school lunch break, which was fun to play again...
for a few days!
