Below are the regulation changes the 750MC are proposing for the 2008 Locost series ie. the actual wording changes are highlighted in red.

Can you please let me know if you have any thoughts or issues with the proposed changes, or if you believe any further regulation changes should also be included ?

1) 3.6 STARTS - Any drivers unable to start the green flag lap or start the race are required to indicate their situation as per MSA reg J.13.10.2. DRIVERS MAY MAKE UP ANY LOST GRID POSITION DURING THIS GREEN FLAG LAP, but any drivers unable to maintain....etc

2) 4.2 INFRINGEMENTS - Point number 3 to be added as follows...THE CLERK OF THE COURSE MAY IMPOSE A STOP-GO OR DRIVE THROUGH PENALTY DURING A RACE IN ACCORDANCE WITH MSA REGULATION J.13.4

3) 5.5 CHASSIS - After...as per drawing 6.1.1 of these regulations; A PERMITTED ALTERNATIVE REAR BULKHEAD DRAWING IS ALSO SHOWN IN APPENDIX 6. This has been included to allow the higher Procomp rear bulkhead, and includes the downward sloping rear fuel tank access panel.

4) 5.9.3 TRANSMISSIONS - FOR 2008 ONWARDS IT IS NOT PERMITTED TO CHANGE ANY OF THE GEARBOX RATIOS FROM THOSE ORIGINALLY FITTED; IT IS NOT PERMITTED TO FIT A NON A NON-STANDARD SET OF RATIOS, EVEN IF ALL THE RATIOS ARE TAKEN FROM WITHIN THE RANGE OF PERMITTED GEARBOXES.

5) 5.10.2 ELECTRICS - The central rear warning light...THIS LIGHT MUST BE WIRED TO THE IGNITION SWITCH OR MASTER SWITCH SUCH THAT IT IS PERMANENTLY ILLUMINATED WHEN THE IGNITION OR MASTER IS SWITCHED ON.

6) 5.11.1 BRAKES - Permitted Modifications: THE FRICTION FACES OF THE DISC MAY BE RECLAIMED BY SIMPLE MACHINING MAINTAINING A MINIMUM DISC THICKNESS OF 8.00 mm. THE FRICTION FACE OF THE REAR BRAKE DRUM MAY BE RECLAIMED BY SIMPLE MACHINING MAINTAINING A MINIMUM THICKNESS XX mm

7) 5.11.2 BRAKES - Prohibited Modifications: THE USE OF DISCS WHICH ARE GROOVED, CROSS-DRILLED, RADIALLY DRILLED OR MODIFIED IN ANY OTHER WAY IS NOT PERMITTED, EXCEPT FOR THOSE SPECIFIED IN 5.11.1. NO MODIFICATION MAY BE MADE TO THE NON FRICTION AREA OF THE DISC/BELL. THE USE OF BRAKE DRUMS WHICH ARE MODIFIED IN ANY WAY OTHER THAN THAT PERMITTED IN 5.11.1 IS PROHIBITED

Thanks Gary. What does the following look like? Could someone please email me the drawings to: simesw2001@yahoo.co.uk

Also, do we have to have the light on all the time? Seems very odd.

Simon

The rear bulhead if you look at a normal locost the rear where the roll cage is welded/bolted to behind your head to the top edge of the rear panel is horizontal where on the procomp it is on a downward slope. And yes it does seem that we have to race with the rain light on all of the time seems a little weird to me to.

Will it need to flash when we come into the pits!

I will give Dec a call and ask him about it.

Hi in that case good old rob palin will be one step infront whith his job then .

The change to the chassis reference to the procomop bualkhead should not have been printed as it should have refered to the fact that the book drawings allow the higher height to be used as it always has done. So it is only a clarification of the regs not a change.

Just think though one less switch on the dashboard will allow for an extra large breakfast before a race .

cheers matt
