as specified in the Haynes manual, about 5,800, this is used for noise test so lower the better but don't bullsh!t the inspectors they have seen
it all before and know the Pinto very well

IIRC I said summat along the lines of 4500! He didn't query it.

Don't they test at 3/4 of the max rpm though...?

I once managed just over 8000 rpm with a 2.1 pinto

Yep s0 if you declare 5800 and can prove it no problems.
Now for those of you who think you can declare say 4500 as peak revs on a Pinto, the SVA guys have seen loads and know roughly what to expect. It is
your first test then i put it to you that they will know that you are lying and will then look at every aspect of your build with that in mind.
You can't beat the system but you can be prepared and therefore present your evidence in a way that will at least be of help to your aim of
passing the SVA.
My experience of the test was that the SVA testers had seen most of it before but were happy to see cars past as long as they conformed with the SVA
regs, if you try and bend the regs to far you will be caught out.

It's the rpm of max power that they are asking for not the red-line.
Without a rolling road printout Haynes figure is going to be hard to challenge.
