Morning all!

My question is, do I need head restraints?
The draft IVA quotes; "A system of head restraint must be fitted on every outboard front seat"

With me having a mini shell over the chassis I presume it's no longer outboard?

Don’t know what you think ‘outboard’ means but its simply the two seats as normal, unless your fitting three in a row like a Landy and then in that case the middle one needs no headrest.

i wasn't sure if outboard meant open top?
and inboard meant hardtop? Just seems a strange term to use!

Afraid not, outboard just means the outside ones, like outriggers on chassis for the supports on the outer perimeter of a chassis, or outboard and inboard motors on boats.

Its for cars with more than 2 front seats like the Aeon, the rule applies to the outer of the front seats

I wouldn't consider sitting in a car without head restraints.

Hadnt read that part in the draft IVA. Lucky i ordered my seats with head rests

Looking at the draft manual this is the part that worried me regarding the seats and head rests

"Check that the height of the top of the head restraint above the H point
should be at least 800mm for the front outboard seats, and 750mm when
optional headrests are fitted to other seats.

Height adjustable head restraints must achieve this dimension at a position between the highest and lowest
positions to which adjustment is possible. There should also not be any in use position resulting in a height of less than 750mm."

The "H" poins is the block they put on the seat for the seat belt height check.

800mm is way over my head, certainly higher than the seats we have bought for Tim's challenger.
