No. Not required unless it's used to cover up any sharp edges....

rightyho, will not bother then, ski was good mate, had same problem as you though, legs were like jelly, thinking of going again in 3 weeks just for weekened.

If the handbrake is above 150mm from the seat base then all edges will come into play& must be 2.5mm at least.
