My car will be ready to run next month after 3 years off the road.
After some advise.......
SORN sent Dec 2005, ive had no reminder since and realised today i should do it every year.
The x-flow is coming out and an R1 going in.
Do i..
Go to the MOT station then submit/post my V5 with the new engine details?
What form at the Post Office do/will i need to tax the car?
So thats 3 years of fines for failling to Sorn it!!!!!!!
Paul
Isn't it a flat £60 fine?
2 years, i SORN'd the first year?
How about paperwork i need to get it taxed?
Have you considered taxing it online. If its MOT is done and its insured then its simple.
Paul
I'd suggest ringing the DVLA and tell them the car should still be on SORN - explain the situation and that you have only just become aware that the SORN needs renewing annually. I had a similar problem and they took a very sensible view that it wasnt deliberate as i was being proactive and speaking to them.
I think its the best thing Paul, i'll do it next week and give em a ring.
Hope i dont get a bludy fine !

Happened to me, just taxed it as normal and not a word from DVLA.
Missed taxing my bike for a week or so, fine appeared in very short order. I would just keep quiet about it, why poke a hornets nest if they are
asleep?
Regards Mark
Do i get it MOT'd first, then send off the V5 with the new engine details, then wait for the new V5 and then get it taxed?

Update.
Last week i sent the completed V5 off with a letter saying that the car has a new engine (Yamaha 998cc) and will be taxed and MOT'd during
March/April.
I just need to wait and see what they do/say regarding the new engine and no SORN for 2 years.
They also say it could take upto 4 weeks for the V5 to return to myself
I strangely enough received a reminder today. It now reads on the top
Renewal reminder for a tax disc or Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN)
it's a V11.so it looks like they have now decided to come into the 20th century & use the computer for something useful, instead of trying to
catch the unknowing out.
