can i drive to chadderton for the test it doesnt mention anything in the appointment letter, in fact i was expecting more with my letter like maps and
instructions for the day, all i got is a time and date abd the chassis number, im guessing thats right?
chris
when you going?
you are allowed to drive to and from the sva test centre as long as you have the car insured on the chassis no.
march 20th 8am, yeah was going to sort the insurance etc, but thought it would mention things like that in the letter, or is there another letter on its way?
Just be aware that if they find a problem with the brakes or chassis that they think is serious then they won't let you drive it back home.
if you double check all the brake unions and bleed them properly and do a few emergency stops out in the street to make sure the brakes work properly.
well noted mr grumpy, but its a stuart taylor chassis so think that will be fine, and im pretty confident about the rest of it
Yes, drive it there. Insure it on the chassis number.

I was at Chadderton the other day watching a mates SVA.
After a few problems with the transporter he had hired, he ended up driving it there.
The SVA tester was a pretty good bloke, very helpful, but my mate did have a problem with the brakes leaking ever so slightly.
As I said on another post earlier, the ester said that had my mate not been able to fix it there and then, he would have had no option but to put a
prohibiton order on it preventing him from being able to drive it back.
A prohibtion order would have sent the details of the car to the police.
To the lift prohibiton order he would have had to collect the vehicle with a trailer, had the car MOT'd then take all relevant documents to the
police station for them to remove it.
If you trailer the vehicle and there is a problem the prohibtion order is not used.
I will be hiring a trailer which my mate will drive while I will drive the car to the SVA.
