Rain at SVA?
cloudy - 3/3/09 at 08:04 PM

What happens if it's absolutely tipping it down during the SVA test? Has anyone been in this situation - you couldn't do the outdoors bits surely?

Reason I ask - 95% chance of rain on my retest date!

The sound meter would get sodden for starters...

how long does a sound test take before putting the meter back in its box?

they could have an open sided shelter, only other things done outside are self centring, brakes, and handbrake stop on a hill.

plus they drive it so you can stay under cover result

Er don't think a bit of rain will be a show stopper, this was my sva!! we couldn't even see the markings for the mirror test, we had to dig it out and the self centering was a challenge too.

It's no problem. It pissed it down my entire SVA test On the plus side the examiner was more lenient on the basis that "it would be a shame to drag you back in weather like this just to show you've fixed A,C or C"....

My sva was in Late october and it was hosing down. Made the 40 mile drive crap and I got soaked. - Test went ahead. The center has a big workshop and most of it is done inside

Be prepared to get wet and maybe think about some waterproofs for the drive.

We know that sound travels better in solid and liquids than it does in air, so if you exhaust is on the limit, you may fail the noise level test.

Never heard of an umbrella? They're often used to keep people dry whilst out in the rain but can quite easily be used to cover other small objects such as noise meters etc.. They even come in various sizes
