Now my insurers Summit (via Sureterm) have decided they now want thatcham cat1 immobiliser or alarm or they cancel the theft side of the policy, any
ideas on what to fit or does it have to be fitted by an alarm firm
tony
what about another insurance company?
you can buyt the thatcham immobiliser but the insurance company require them to be fitted by authorised fitters i.e. you cannot do fit it yerself.
change insurance company.
if theyre been awkward BEFORE theyve taken money off you... hell knows what theyll be like should you ever need money out of them..
It's not like the car is going to well protected even with a Thatcham Immobiliser... they obviously have NO IDEA what they are talking about.
As said - it can only get MORE difficult in the event of a Claim - find new insurance!

I fitted my Cat2 imobiliser, then talked my local alarm fitting place to certificate it.
They grilled me on how I had done it and where I had run the wires until they were satisfied it was OK. Wrote me a VSIB cert for a tenner.
Mind you they do race a MK so were sympathetic.
Not sure how you secure a Se7en, like alarming the windows and doors etc etc
As above Tony - tell them where to stick their insurance if they are changing the rules AFTER you have taken it out. Quoterack seems to have a fair few fans at the moment!!
