Been to local dvla today to start registration process. Had the correct forms, reciepts, donor v5 and insurance certificate. I was asked about the
remaining parts of the donor, anf told them the bodyshell was scrapped. I was told this was a problem and could result in a "Q" plate
instead of age related.
Surely thats wrong? The donor has been registered in my name for 2 years, been on SORN all the time. Am I really expected to keep the bodyshell
until the kit is registered?
I removed the vin plate and chassis number, so the body was scrapped with no identity.
Any advice would be appreciated/

I take it you were at Gosforth DVLA? They don't register many kits, so by their own admission they were "a bit rusty" on the rules!
I'd print out all the relevant pages from the DVLA website and take them down to them.
I got an age related plate there.

HAHAHA.... Lamp him one in the face... class 1 retard!
Have you declared it as scrapped to the DVLA? If not, just go back and pretend you never spoke to them before. Then tell them you have the donor shell, with VIN plates etc, waiting to be scrapped as soon as this is sorted. It's not like they will come to your house and check under your bed is it!?
Yes it was Gosforth, Mike.
I'm starting to realise why people say sva was the easy bit.
I'm back there next week for the inspection, and to find out if I get an age related plate. Am I allowed to refuse if they try and issue a Q
plate, or is that just hard luck?
Its not declared as scrapped to dvla, still registered and sorn in my name.

just to prove the inconsistency of dvla, my donor was scrapped 4 years ago and dvla notified, when I registered mine all the proof of my donor was an
old sorn request from dvla but chester accepted this as proof of donor as it was in my name
best of luck

Hopefully you are going to find they got confused between simply getting rid of the eyesore on your drive with declaring the whole car as scrapped via
the V5.
I was told by Stockton that all they need the donor V5 for was to act as a receipt for the parts that give you sufficient points to qualify for age
related. They then inspect to see if you have possibly used the donor parts to complete the age related plate qualification. I had a home visit and
OTR told that they dont expect you to keep the remainder of the donor that wasnt used - ie its OK to get rid of it as you have done.
Ref age related or Q - i think it is wise to politely and professionally stand your ground on this occasion if you want age related. From what you
have said you are correct.
I was also told that the Police dont like DVLA issuing Q's if they can help it, so this might explain the inconsistencies this time.
