Well I went to the DVLA office in Bristol, and hey presto, they knew exactly what to do, i not do not need a MOT for another 2 years (which i have in writing)

the form is a 112 MOT exemption

So all Done, on the road again tomorrow, its certain to rain

Just been to the post office and argued the toss with them

in the end they told me they couldnt issue because the computer said i needed an MOT... I pointed out that they have the ability to override that and issue anyway!

At that point they gave in and issued my tax disc!

went of the full year this time £185 if anyone ios interested
