I failed at newcastle but most of the items i did while i was there but he had already wrote them on sheet.
1) Steering rack extensions - No lock nut at track rod end (there is one at rack end)
2) OSF top suspension arm is not 2.5mm- Bit of U-Trim to sort
3) Front Mud guards no trim on inside- U Trim again- DONE
4) Rear Reflectors not to 2.5- Dremal and sandpaper
5) Dash lower edge not 19mm
6) Interior panels not 2.5 - U trim - DONE
7) NS body panel effected by exhaust- cut hole bigger
8) Rear suspension Arm Bolt into hub have no spring washers.
9) Rear position of stop lamps 8mm too low - raise ride height
10) Mirrors distorted from vibration - Put Plates on back possibly
..... and the biggy
11) Emmissons should be 0.2 and they are 5.3 (oh fuck)
Havent a clue what to do with emmissions i got ripped off more than enough for the ECU tuning.
Kris.
good fail there, days work at most, when is the retest?
Emissions seem pretty out of whack! Have you got a cat, and if so, was it hot when they did the emissions test?
The rest of the stuff doesn't see too bad, good luck!
Cheers
Vince
Thats not too bad and at least you've got SVA and not IVA
Good luck with the retest

All the best getting it sorted.

That not too bad Kris!
I found it quite reassuring to have a definitive list of exactly what needed doing - I found its pretty easy to question a lot of what you have done
before presenting at SVA.
Sounds like you've got most things covered - as for lights and emissions, Im sure theres a fix.
Could you temporarily fit bigger tyres to get your ride height up? Or longer springs? Springs are quite reasonable from from Rally Design - assuming
they do a long enough one.
As for the emissions - Mine was miles out like that intially - turned out to be bad plug leads. Very bad plug leads - I had made up carbon ones with
HT lead on a roll from VWP but shouldnt have done so!
What were the full emissions values?
Well done though - thats the hard bit over!
Geoff
Finishing line in sight, at last! Not much to do now.
Steve
could you not but some crappy old wings in any condition and mount you r lights to them just for SVA?
Who mounted them, Mr Darby?
good luck on the retest mate
sounds like my emissions - map needed!!
all the rest won't take long
The end is in sight!!!!!!!!!!

man my mot failure list is normally longer than that! nice one! good luck sorting it out!
Doesn't sound too bad to sort Krism!
I've got my test next Wednesday on an early VortX RT...
Just curious on a couple of your fail points!
1) Steering rack extensions - No lock nut at track rod end (there is one at rack end)
So there needs to be a lock nut either end of the extension!? I've got one at the track rod end but not on the back of the extension, i.e. rack
end... I dont think I'll be able to fit one in with the toe angles I've got... Any piccies by any chance?!
2) OSF top suspension arm is not 2.5mm- Bit of U-Trim to sort
Is that the U section welded into the top arm?
5) Dash lower edge not 19mm
How are you sorting this radius? Pipe lagging or similar?
6) Interior panels not 2.5 - U trim - DONE
Is that on the return lip or the carbon look inserts?
Any help'd be appreciated!
Any other tips you'd look out for when SVAing a VortX?
Ta!
Chris.
Thats not too bad mate.
There's not much work there at all. Especially considering you did most of it there.
I should be back in Newcastle soon for a week or two, I'm expecting a ride!!

Re: Rack extensions
I got round the nuts either side of the extension issue by loctite-ing a length of 10.9 studding between the the track rod end and the extension and
taking photos of what id done to show Mr SVA.
He was 'happy' with that but its on my ever growing list of stuff to re-do.
Would like to make something a little less over-engineered at some point......
Geoff
IM sure ive loctited mine in but he said not good enough with no proof, ill remove and see if i could add a nut, if not loctite and pics it is.
cheers again geoff for info on brakes. he tested them how i had set it up, he was happy and let me pin them there and then.
