DD2 speedo and SVA?
shaun fulcrum - 23/4/09 at 06:44 PM

How have people got round being able to hide the speedo? Am getting ready for a re-test but not sure what to do!

Cheers, Shaun.

put it in the exclusion zone behind the steering wheel?

Do you mean so the SVA man can't fiddle and the DD2 always displays speed?

If you do there's a firmware upgrade available for the DD2 that forces "simple" mode. Newer (post March I think) already has this function.

ETB can do the upgrade easily to it when it's sent back to them. Few days turnaround.

I have an older DDPro 1 and there is no upgrade :-(

Yes McLannahan, you new what I meant. Will have to send it off then! is there no way of downloading the info or does it have to be sent back?

Has anyone had this done and been through SVA/IVA and been accepted as ok? (just curious)

Thanks for the replies guys

Shaun.

I would be interested to know if it is possible to do this upgrade at home instead of sending it back to ETB as I already have the dash fitted and would like to save the hassle of removing it and posting it off.

Email them and ask

I sent mine back to be done returned within 2 days!.
Also if you have an earlier DD2 like mine you need to have a sticker placed over the brake oil low light too, to pass SVA.

I already got the sticker off them for the brake warning light but I didn't realise about the MPH thing. SVA is fast approaching but I'll probably fail on something else anyway lol

Emailed them there - it has to be returned for the firmware upgrade. If the unit is less than one year old then it is free, if it is older then it costs £10 to cover postage.

Cheers for that Paul most helpful looks like I'll be removing mine then. At least it'll be free.

Thanks, Shaun

No problem Shaun - I had to remove mine today and will post it on Monday. Basically the firmware upgrade gives a road setting which displays the mph revs and gear num screen and disables button a - you can then set the dash to track mode which acts like it does at the minute
