£$%^ing sva retest date 2nd June
nitram38 - 29/4/09 at 09:55 AM

Really P*ssed off with Mitcham sva centre.
Earliest re-test 2nd June.
What with the response from wimbledon dvla (no check until after sva), it looks like summer 2009 is going to be a waste of time.

WTF? Why so long? It's not like anyone is booking IVA's at the mo!

Dangle_kt - 29/4/09 at 10:06 AM

might be holidays? bet they haven't been able to take them with the training for iva, and the rush on sva tests.

I have just phoned up now to re-book mine, the 2nd June sounds about right for me!

From what I hear, there's been unprecedented demand for SVAs and also a very very high number of failures as cars were rushed to completion to hit a date and quality of build has suffered accordingly...

Mine is booked in.

1st June 8.00 Chadderton.

Bring on the trumpets.

Give em a ring and let them know that you can be available at short notice, should they get a cancellation.

I've done that. Since last weeks test I have rung them twice on the off chance.

I rang the dvla because I want to get the car inspected, but wimbledon don't inspect until MAC in hand. I wasted 1 1/2 hrs waiting in the wimbledon vro to find out that little gem.
The main dvla office suggested I write to wimbledon which I have done today.
Otherwise, from booking sva to registration (if everything passes on retest etc) it will be 20 weeks to get a reg.
Incredible when you think I designed and built it in 20 months and the paperwork would have taken nearly another 5 months

Still, you'll be on the road earlier than if you'd waited for IVA as you had originally planned.

The frustrating thing is the car is just sitting there...................

Ben_Copeland - 29/4/09 at 01:01 PM

Have you tried gilingham? I've got to book a retest there soon... Now i'm worried

FEZ1025 - 30/4/09 at 08:08 AM

They have you by the short & curlies, to qualify for a retest you have to go back to the original test centre. Used to be able to organise a new test at a different centre obviously at full cost but that is now no longer an option.

Some good news!
The Mitcham centre rang me as they had a cancellation for the 14th May!
They gave me the option of anytime so if any of you are looking for a test, I bet there might be time available on that day, so get ringing!
I've still told them that I can accept an earlier cancellation so who knows.

Some more good news.
After writing a letter to wimbledon (including a photo), I got a call from the head of the dept who amongst praising the car told me to come in straight in on the 14th May after my sva retest and talk to Michelle who will process my paperwork.
They will endevour to dispatch Jason to my home to check the car as soon as possible to avoid necessary costs on getting the car to their office.
I am hoping that she is roadworthy for the start of June.
