Hi,
I have a "repackable" exhaust, so I have drilled the rivets out but I can't seperate the thing.
Anyone had a similar problem? What is the solution?
Currently I have the slits in the tube over a long peice of angle, and a small length of tube inserted into the tail pipe to try and twist it, after a
liberal squirt of WD40... its not budging.
Apply heat?
Strap wrench (Boa Constrictor @ B&Q or MachineMart - they also do a heavy duty ali one)?
Rubber Mallet on tail pipe (where any ensuing dents won't be seen?
Bit of gentle tapping on the can as you try and twist it off - best if you have three hands for this though.
Let me know how it goes - I've just ordered some packing for mine form CBS so interested to know which works best!!!
Careful with the slits as you don't want to bend or shear them.
Cheers, Pewe
Had similar with my MK supplied silencer. I ended up with it stood on the floor with a piece of wood over the end of the removable end tapping ti with a hammer to free it. Came out easy once I had it loosened.
Put some rivets back in, tell it you have changed your mind and wont be repacking it. Within a very short time the end WILL fall off.
