Do I need to get the dvla to inspect or is it an optional thing
DVLA will need to inspect the chassis/engine numbers to turn your MAC into a V5c.
After you have your MAC from SVA/IVA, you take that to the DVLA ,a long with all of your completed forms and first reg fee, and they will inspect, and sort the V5. It is not optional, and it does feel like a a waste of time, but it has to be done....
So it only needs insecting post iva? I take all the iva bits still have to be fitted?

When you go to the local DVLA office (who organise the inspection).
Don't forget to take your receipts if you are after a new or age related plate.
Also don't forget to take your insurance certificate. For some reason they need this as they like to issue V5 and tax disk at the same time (at
least OXford DVLA do).
Finally Oxford DVLA required a letter saying that I didn't mind having a Q reg. Not quite sure why they have to start making up NEW forms when
there are loads already, but who am I to argue (I just thank God that I don't have to work in a DVLA office).
