i want to get a 7.5t to trans port the car, wife and kid to track days and races. if i use it at weekends do i have to get a restrictred operators
licence along with the 12 weekly checks! i only plan to do 2k a year in it. the other option is for my landscape company to by the truck or get a
camper and trailer.
any thoughts on this? Ed

2000k a year?!?
That's some mileage!
I'd look at a diesel....
i dont know what your talking about, it clearly says 2k
Ed
yeah,can't you read charlie
No, not unless is business or trade use.
Info here
i believe you only need an operators licence for commercial use.
i know that you dont need an operators licence for a 7.5t horse lorry so i would assume the same applies for personal car transporter. you also dont
need a tacho if its non business use.
okay that sounds good, so what would you do,
A. get a 7.5 t box lorry 20ft long for £3500 and convert the front into living over the winter using second hand kitchen units and bunk beds.
B. Get a camper for £3500 and get a trailer for £1000
C. get a transit for £1500 convert it and get a trailer
Which on would you go for?
Ed
Been thinking a bit about this myseff
I wouldn't bother with option C - lots of work for no real advantage over B. You will always get your money back on a camper if you are buying it
for that sort of money. And you can use the camper for a holiday
A is obviously more expensive but would awesome as you can make it into a mobile workshop as well as living in it.
option c would work for me as i could buy it through my landscape company
Ed
