Passed SVA this morning!

Now not sure wot to do? rang DVLA and asked what forms I needed for a new registration and they said about a certificate of newness (whats that/ where do I get one?).

lol certificate of newness... sounds like he just made that up. I'd guess the MAC you'd have been given at SVA

As for the newness thing. I reckon theyr talking about if you register a new car.

You just need the MAC and reciepts for your kit etc.

If you have built your car with all new bits (one fully reconditioned item allowed, usually engine) and want a current 2009 reg. then you need to complete a Declaration of Newness form.

It is not a certificate as such, just a form you fill in and sign.

As said above, if you are going for age related or Q plate then it's not required.

Certificate of newness is the easiest way to register a current plate car. It is basically what the kit car manufacturers supply when registering cars to avoid submitting a receipt, it would need to come from Raw. It is basically a form from raw which says this car has been made from entirely new parts. You take this with your mac and they give you a reg number and tax disc while you wait. They did with mine anyway.

Well done that man.
Just bear in mind that if the car's built from more than one donor under their points system they won't give it a current plate or allow you to use a donor plate.
That means a Q plate but that's not all bad news as in three years when it needs an MOT it can only be tested visually for emissions.
Once they have inspected it (trailer to local test centre) they will issue the reg doc and a number plate authorisation. Mine took about 7 days after inspection but others have waited longer - just depends on the local office. It helps if you can find the time to go down there sooner rather than later for "advice", you can talk to their "specialist" and put a face to the voice.
Not long until the fun really starts.

I have receipts for everything so am hoping for a new plate. Will have to wait and see what they say.
