I am right in thinking that our car (SVA'd in March this year) doesnt need to be mot'd for3 years right? Its an indy on an age related plate.

Where is this written down? I'm sure I remember reading it back when we were dealing with all this stuff but thats a while back now and I cant remember.

I've had a search on here and found a V112 mentioned as some sort of exemption form?

i got it form the my local dvla, when i registeread my indy, what yesr does your v5 say date of registration ?

I think you can you use this site to check if MOT is needed.

You need the V5 reference number to use it.

(ie pre SVA)

Just go to your local post office. Take the V5 with you and explain, show them the date of first registration and you will be asked to fill a form in there and then which is a declaration of the first date of use. You'll get your tax there and then

Fill in DVLA form V112 section 3 and take it with your insurance to your local post office. Job done.

I have a letter from the DVLA that says that you DO need an MOT in the first 3 years! However, I ignored it and re-taxed the car in my local DVLA office - each time they saw the request for an MOT certificate, decided that it was stupid, and ignored it!

I had a buggy that was registered on the logbook in Sept 2007, had already been taked 3 times without an MOT and yet when I went to retax it online in july it said I required an MOT. I went to the post office and they just checked their computer and it said MOT required. I phoned and also went to the DVLA and they said they require one to re-tax it. When I pointed out the facts that it had already been taxed 3 times without one and that it was still within 3 years of the logged registration. heir reply was "We can ask for whatever we like.. your job is to comply" They explained that as it was made from mostly old doner parts and on an age related plate then it needs an MOT. What they couldnt explain was how this didnt apply for the first 2 years they didnt require one.
