Can you get them through the IVA or is it an item to be fitted afterwards?

I've heard different stories. I wouldn't say it's a definate 'NO', but subject to interpretation.

If you look at my previous post re. Mountney snap-off steering wheel adaptor, you'll be able to see what I'm using.

I'll be classing it as an additional anti-theft device/immobiliser amongst other things.

My understanding is that for IVA you can't be able to remove the steering wheel whilst the engine is running. By locking the wheel in place and having the key on the same ring as the ignition key (maybe a spot weld on the metal to show it can't be separated), you should have no problem.

That and the fact I might have lost the original Sierra steering wheel....

As I see it, it's a similar arguement to the teathered fuel cap arguement, to ensure that you can't drive off and leave the filler cap behind....

Mine went through no issues or comments at all.

No issues with mine either - I think they only have a problem if the wheel could easily be detached whilst in motion

Ok, can anyone recommend a good reliable brand? As ever I don't want to spend a fortune if I don't have to, but it's not the place to be saving pennies by buying Chinese!

Keep a lookout for the older style Mountney snap-off one. It's lockable, unlike most modern ones.

I hurried it through and bought cheap, and sent it back. Keep your eyes peeled on eBay, this forum, WSCC, and simiilar ones - something will come up.

Remember the snap-off section isn't specific to vehicle like the boss is, just the PCD of the steering wheel holes, so if someone's offering one as removed from a different vehicle, don't be put off!

looking thru previous posts a lot of them seem to need welded to the column. Ideally id like something to go between a normal boss and the wheel and not require the column to be butchered?

Ill leave it just now but I assume that goes between a normal boss and an aftermarket wheel? is the 6 bolt fitting on wheels a standard PCD or not?

Standard 6 bolt hole alignment, suits Mountney M-range wheels. Unsure about the classic range. Goes between boss and wheel, but be warned - I was told that Momo and Mountney use the same hole pattern/alignment, but when I got my new boss realised they didn't. I've now got to re-drill 6 new holes and tap them accordingly, which although annoying, isn't overly difficult.
