Q Plate tax renewal
pewe - 9/10/09 at 01:22 PM

Seems like I've been in a space/time warp for the last year but unbelievably I've just had my first a tax renewal notice through from DVLA. First reg a year ago.
They have indicated that I need a valid MOT.
Now I know that's a load of b**locks but can anyone give me chapter and verse before I give the t*ssers a ring .
Thanks, Pewe

Wot I did is downloaded the MOT excemption form (can't remember the number but lots of links do it if you search for "MOT 3 years" and sent the filled form, with the V5 + cheque to the local DVLA office recorded delivery. Job done. Got the tax disc a few days later.

I had that every year... just went to my local Post office with the V5C and pointed out the date of first registration. They checked something on a screen, crossed out the MOT requirement and sold me a tax disc.

Pewe, as indicated earlier in the thread. print of form V112 or get it from your local post office, (it is an MOT exception form for the purposes of tax discs normally used by taxi cabs/buses/minibuses etc).

Sign it - self decleration that your car does not need an MOT
take your V5 and your insurance certificate with you
show to counter (at post office)
bingo tax disc in exchange for beer tokens.

cheers
Craig

Lots of posts about this last couple of weeks.
"Form V112 is available for vehicle owners who run vehicles which are exempt from MOT testing, and MUST be produced in place of an MOT certificate with an application for a vehicle licence (tax disc)." from DVLA website.

Think we need a sticky as this must have come up about 3-4 times recently.
Remember "the search button is your friend"

Got to take tryping lessons, not nearly quick enough
