Came home tonight, checked the post and have the registration number for the car and a TAX disk.

Age related plate 'H' reg

That's it done and dusted???/?/

The car will be Road legal tonight, will not be on the road tonight, saving that for daylight Saturday.

Halfords later for the plates.

Nice ! Well done and enjoy your first official drive !!!

But regarding the DVLA and the IVA, I have a question: I live in Belgium and I will be building the car also over here. When it is finished I will put it on a trailer and present it to IVA. But if I pass IVA, I also have to present the car to the DVLA? Can this be done in 1 day or do I have to transport the car twice over the channel? Once for IVA and once for DVLA ?

I had to present car to DVLA to get Vin number. Then get IVA, then a seperate visit to DVLA to leave documents for Registration.

Why not contact them and see what is best for you.

Can a non UK resident present a car not built in UK for IVA ? I would check if this is allowed under the regulations.

I will build this car for a UK resident and 6 months after IVA/DVLA, I will buy this car from him.

I did SVA and registratrion all in one day using Mitcham SVA centre and then Wimbledon DVLA.

But! I had already had the inspection before SVA.

I was also lucky in that I had an *extremely* helpful DVLA case worker who knew the correct system. She was a rare case!

So yes, it can be done, but be prepared for it not to be!

Cheers,
James
