Road Angel speedo
andyps - 24/4/04 at 06:39 PM

Way too early for me to be thinking about this, but i just bought myself a road angel speed camera detector. As it has a built in speedo based on gps data would this be acceptable for SVA. I realise they couldn't test it on a rolling road, and presumably you would still need a mileometer. Anyone tried this yet?

wait untill you have to pay for the update in 12 months. my son sells them and other car stuff for a living most people take them back after about 9 months claiming they are defective get a refund and then go to another branch of the company and buy another one thus getting another 12 months but road angel have caught onto this scam. one member of staff got 3 tickets in a week using one

I will probably pay the £99 for a lifetime update - if it helps keep a clean licence and beat the system I think that is OK.

I realise they are not a complete solution, but with good observation they should help, I hope!

Andy ,Please let me know how you get on with Road angel as I'm thinking of buying one. With my new job I'm now doing 750-1000 miles per week, this week alone I've passed three vans with speed cameras inside!!(Think I was slow enough)!!
Thanks DEAN.

it plugs in cig lighter too, move from car to car easy, down load online no probs, even i can manage it so it must be easy

Andy, i got a road angel for the same reason. I had to get the speed sorted as I had an R1 engine and a yellowbox the calibrate. All I can say is its brilliant as GPS, on the SVA my MPH was 1mph over. Problem you do have though is with 12,000 rpm and a straight through race can is you cannot hear it and with the sun out you cannot see it flashing. So I had to sell it, it was no use in the Indy.

So far, very pleased with the road angel. I have silenced the blackspot warning as there are so many of them around, including some of the best driving roads around here and I am prepared to accept the risks there!

It has spotted all the cameras I have seen, except tonight I passed a couple on the Kirkstall Road into Leeds it didn't know about, but they weren't there last Thursday so I think that is fair enough.

No warning yet about laser usage, but again as far as I am aware I haven't passed a laser trap.

I haven't been driving any faster than usual generally, but if anything a bit slower when it gives a warnings which I guess is the idea.
