how did it work getting a kit car on the road before SVA came in? did you just basically buiild it, go to the DVLA office, fill in some forms, pay what ever fee and get the plates?
Just an mot.

lol sounds nice, easy, and cheap...
Yup, it was well easy. Which is why there was such a fuss when SVA came out.
And why I'd be worried buying a pre-SVA car
then again if it hasn't killed the previous owners by now it's probably safe...
you had to build it, then get it inspected to determine donor plate or Q plate based on a points system for what major components you had re-used,
then surrender the V5, mot it, send off some forms and a first license fee and you were done.
I needed an mot, and to send it off, to get mine registered, with 3-4 months left to sva, then:
got a mrs, bought house, had kids, car still unregistered..........................
mine was built and re-chassied into a bookish frame before SVA. Only thing I want to change on mine is the mk2 escort column but thats the least of my worries at the moment!
