Hi,
I managed to burn myself on the exhaust that come out through the bonnet and it got me thinking are there any rules about covering up the hot bits
like the exhaust in the IVA?
Thanks
Frank
im having flashbacks now to pre-IVA rumours re: exhausts.
To answer your question:
Yes in the first *final* draft of the IVA manual there was a restriction on the exhaust which had to be covered.
Kit car manufacturers and agricultural vehicle producers got this redrafted to allow exposed exhausts.
One of the many ironies of the IVA /SVA manual. Sharp edges in a pretty inaccesible bit between the wishbones = bad. Cherry red exhaust headers =
okay.
I know which one I'm more worried about.
cherry red sharp edged exhaust headers!
in the last six years of having kits i have burnt two jacket sleeves, when i threw them in the passenger seat and the arm went over the pipe. and
managed to very badly burn my leg whilst tuning the engine on my first tiger and i still have the scars to prove.
should really be covered in my opinion but it would ruin the look of a seven.
