i want to buy a Personalised number plates for a car im restoring ,it is sorned at this time the plate is.
CURRENTLY RETENTION DOCUMENT READY FOR TRANSFER, THE TRANSFER FEE IS INCLUDED. PLATES NOT INCLUDED, CHANGE OF NAME ON DOCUMENT FEE NOT INCLUDED £25.
i have been told by a mate the car needs to be taxed motd and insured to buy a plate ?
anyone know if i can put it on my car or if not or buy it and put in on in a year or two once the car is back on the road.

you can buy a number plate, and not put in onto a car, its justs costs £25 a year when its not on a car.

I've had my personalised plate off my car for the last 3...

Go direct to the dvla for the plate, cheaper then else where

Only if its one that hasn't already been sold and fits their "roll your own plate" format. They still auction off the really good ones separately for £££££'s

There is no issue if as you say the plate is already on a retention certificate & the certificate is valid the holder of this would have to apply to add your name as nominee hence the cost of further £25 to do this. they should send this away & will get the retention certif back which can be seent on to you. Obviously if buying on ebay trust element will have to be taken on board!
