I should think so. You could have a knife blade sticking out behind the steering wheel if you wanted and it would pass IVA so long as it is within 127mm of the outside diameter of the wheel

does it show speed at all times? or can screen be changed at push of button?

As long as it's illuminated you should be fine. The manual doesn't specifically say so, but if the illumination isn't permanent I would expect it to have to come on and off with the position lamps.

Also note:

quote:

The speedometer must be of a type suitable for M1 vehicle use. The types manufactured for bicycles, racing only, those that rely on GPS or those that require switching as a separate function to that of operating the vehicle or those that have a separate power source from the vehicle or where they do not operate as an automatic function when the vehicle is driven are not permitted.

think you can change it with a button press to odometer

that might not be ideal, but if you can mount it behind a little plastic screen, so you can't press the button, they should be happy with it, as it must show the speed at all times

the button is sepereate so could remove it if nescessary, but is an odometer an IVA requirement too ??

i failed 1st sva for that very reason. it ideally needs locking on so it shows speed at all times!

Remember you need a sidelight indication, if the speedo does not change illumination from the side light, then you need a seperate sidelight indication.

You will find many of the dashes on the market change speed indication with a button press. I made a point of not doing this on my dash after seeing many people have failed on this.

Removing or blanking the button may work.

I looked at that one - I seem to remember that it mentioned something about being battery powered. For IVA it needs to be from the cars battery - worth a check!
