cd.thomson - 28/4/10 at 07:37 AM

Morning,

I know its not possible to get number plates on your car before its passed IVA, but could I submit all the necessary forms now to reduce my waiting time after I do pass the test?

also could anybody link me to the forms please.

I'm not sure about the registration papers but there's no reason why couldn't have your DVLA inspection before IVA - I did, in fact leeds more or less insisted on it!!

I understand that I need a v55/4 form, can this be obtained from a post office?

No, they a multilayed and numbered. DVLA office or request through the post.

The rest can come off the website. I had mine all filled in on SVA day I called into the DVLA on the way back and had tax disc in hand 455 minutes later. (helped I had a number on retention mind you)

I dont think I can be bothered to wait at DVLA for 455 minutes (7.5hrs)

What other forms do I need? the website is like the phone system, it just takes you round and round in circles.

I presume I need to order the "import a vehicle pack"?

Sorry should have put 0.75 hours then....

I had inspection about 3-6 weeks before SVA.

Had been in contact with my DVLA 'case officer' a few times in advance but as soon as I had the MAC I drove home via DVLA, got registered and the plate form, then drove home via a number plate place.

Wish others had it this simple!

Cheers,
James
